The Westport Fire Department responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident requiring extrication on Kings Hwy North. The incident occurred at about 6 PM in the early evening hours. Units arrived to find a vehicle on its side with the occupant trapped. Fire crews stabilized the car, gained entry and removed the driver who was the only occupant of the automobile. Fire Department Members also immediately deployed a hose line during the operation as a precaution which remained in place until the vehicle was removed. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport Emergency Medical Services personnel. Kings Hwy North was closed for approximately an hour while emergency personnel operated and the vehicle was finally removed by a flat bed tow truck.
