On January 30, 2018 at 5:41pm the Westport Fire Department received a call from the resident of 1655 Post Road East, Unit 2901. The resident of Unit 2901 reported a stove fire. The Westport Fire Department responded with 2 engine companies, 1 ladder truck, a Safety Officer and the Shift Commander. Fire Department units arrived and found an alarm sounding from a multiple family town house with four occupancies.
Engine 5 found an extinguished fire on the stove that extended to the cabinets. The fire was extinguished prior to the fire department’s arrival by the fire sprinkler system. Fire damage was contained to the kitchen while significant water damage occurred in two
units.Representatives from the Fire Marshal’s Office responded and are conducting an investigation. The Westport Housing Authority responded and is coordinating the cleaning and the temporary relocation of two families.
